What Are Your Actions Producing?
Paul writes with confidence about how they (Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy), acted with the people of Thessalonica. (I Thess. 1:5) They spoke boldly and truthfully with the people there. He states clearly how they did not try to please men but God only. They approached the people with gentleness and love even though they were afflicted and distressed; yet they stood firm.
The result of their actions was that the people who heard and received Christ not only accepted Him but obeyed Him, (I Thess. 2:13-14). They were not lacking in obeying Christ. This was shown to us when Timothy visited and found them still strong in the faith, (I Thess. 3:6). Paul tells us that when we walk as we should we not only please God and abound (I Thess. 4:1), but we do not hinder others.
Our actions determine if Jesus is glorified not only within ourselves but with others,(II Thess. 1:12). We need to hold to the word (II Thess. 2:15) and live our lives so that others can see Christ in us and through us. Remembering what is at stake….
II Thess. 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, …The souls of many! So we must glorify God in the things that we say and do, for someone is always watching.
